The Olympic Breakfast 18 November 2006

Snow Bunting, on the beach at Snettisham

The tiniest NNOBS happened today, with me, Big Al and Pablo, accompanied by Mrs L. We headed north for Holbeach St Matthew which is a couple of miles from the middle of nowhere. Redeeming features included the first Black-eared Kite for the UK, which we watched happily fly straight over our parked car, after having walked 2 miles along a slippery seawall to look for it, and a Little Thief. At the Little Thief, we gorged ourselves on the world's biggest breakfast; The Olympic Breakfast. Having been responsible for the bursting of several elderly women, this company and it's legendary brekkie is now due to be closed down. Shame.

Onwards to the Wolferton Triangle, where several dodgy hybrid Golden Pheasants failed to show themselves as normal.

Snettisham saved the day with a cracking Little Auk steaming around on one of the pits. Also present was the usual female Scaup, 5 smart Shore Larks on the beach, plus a couple of Snow Buntings. The roost at Titchwell revealed single Hen and Marsh Harriers, plus a Barn Owl and a Mediterranean Gull.

Little Auk. Ahhhh ain't it cute!!

All in all, tiny but very satisfying.
